Empowering Women Coffee Producers
By empowering women coffee producers across the world, we are promoting a better future for their communities and for organic coffee.
At Chameleon, we’re committed to inspiring long-term economic, environmental, and social sustainability throughout our coffee supply chain. We’ve recently began working with newly formed female-led coffee cooperatives in Myanmar and Indonesia to empower these women through purchase contracts and additional voluntary investments. Over the past year, we’ve funded one of the cooperatives’ organic certifications and purchased the very first 40,000lbs of coffee from each of the cooperatives.
Along with creating exceptional organic and sustainably sourced coffee, we are committed to empowering women coffee producers around the world to promote a better future for them and coffee. Hear more from our incredible partners in the video below!
The women are doing much of the work here in Ywangan and Sumatra
We really want to highlight that to show that the women can be empowered and be better coffee producers.
In our township of Ywangan, the coffee farmers are mostly women. All of the tasks of growing, harvesting, collecting and processing coffee beans are done by women.
We always focus on quality, and our coffee is purely organic. Chameleon supported us for organic certification.
We are going to be able to export certified organic specialty grade coffee out of Myanmar for the very first time to the United States.
Coffee has become our main crop because it provides long-lasting work and a steady living.
With Chameleon’s patronage, we can support these farmers even more.
So with this offering, we are able for one of the first times to really experience and really share the beautiful coffees of Myanmar and Sumatra and grown by fantastic women producers.
With your help, we can continue to inspire more opportunity for women within coffee around the world. This December, every purchase you make of Chameleon Cold-Brew Coffee Concentrate at Whole Foods will contribute funds to provide micro-loans to female entrepreneurs around the world.
