for Non-Coffee Drinkers
We didn’t choose the mug life; the mug life chose us. Coffee runs in our veins. At Chameleon, we believe a good brew really fuels our fire, turning a dreamer into a doer and a planner into a creator! But like all the finer things in life, coffee is an acquired taste, and everyone’s got to start somewhere! Not all brews are created equal, so we’ve crafted a list of the best coffee for non-coffee drinkers to help ease them into the wonderful world of coffee.
Café Mocha or Mocha Latte
This beverage is often considered a “gateway coffee drink.” If chocolate is your jam, this might be just the drink to ease your taste buds into drinking coffee. A café mocha is a chocolate-flavored variant of a café latte (think hot chocolate with a bit of espresso). You can even add a bit of whipped cream on top for added sweetness.
Making an iced version of this at home is simple and easy. Add one part Chameleon Cold-Brew Mocha Coffee Concentrate and equal parts milk (or dairy-alternative) to a blender. Blend on high for 10-15 seconds to create a frothy texture. Pour into a glass over ice, and top with whipped cream and cocoa powder or cacao nibs.
Dirty Chai Latte
We’re convinced this creamy delight is the perfect drink to soothe your soul. It also makes for a tasty treat to keep you cool in the summer. Dirty chai lattes are crafted using chai tea. The spices used in the tea vary from region to region, but the most common are cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and pepper. Coffee shops tend to use a spiced chai concentrate when making chai lattes, adding about ½ parts milk (dairy or non-dairy), and a shot of espresso for a little kick of caffeine. The end result is delicious, and it’s one of the best drinks to help non-coffee drinkers get better acquainted with the taste of coffee.
Chameleon White Russian
The dude abides, and there’s nothing like a little booze to help boost your buzz for coffee. Our version of a White Russian incorporates coffee ice cubes to this cocktail classic.
Start by pouring a bottle of Chameleon Mexican Coffee into ice cube trays, and place in freezer. Once frozen, add a few ice cubes to a cocktail glass. Add in 1-2 oz of vodka, 1 oz of coffee liquor, and 3-4 oz of cashew cream (this can be substituted with milk or another dairy-alternative). Stir, and voila! You’re on your way to enjoying coffee on the regular.
The best thing about this drink is its health benefits! While most vegans and folks who live by a non-dairy diet are skeptical of putting butter in their coffee, adding grass-fed butter (this means the cows that produced the milk for the butter were kept on a strictly grass-fed diet the way the nature intended) to your brew provides important healthy fats that your body craves.
Only grass-fed butter contains the right fats that regulate cholesterol rather than adding to it. It’s also a great source of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids that work together to reduce body fat. The vitamin K that’s found in grass-fed butter is another added health benefit, which studies show reduces the risk of heart disease.
In addition to the health benefits that butter coffee provides, it’s light, fluffy (and semi-sweet) taste makes it one of the best coffees for non-coffee drinkers. Making it at home is simple: add 2 cups of Chameleon Black Coffee, 2 tbsp of grass-fed butter (we recommend Kerrygold’s), 1 tbsp of pure maple syrup, and 1-2 tbsp of MCT oil to a blender. Blend on high for 5-7 seconds. Serve over ice.
The great thing about a Vietnamese iced coffee is that it’s rich and sweet! The coffee is brewed in a nifty little metal Vietnamese filter that rests right on top of a glass or cup containing about a quarter, to half as much sweetened condensed milk. The sweet taste of condensed milk adds a creamy goodness that compliments the coffee, and makes it easy on the stomach for those who aren’t quite used to the harsh taste and acidity of traditional coffee.
A whisky-cold-brew combo… what’s not to love? A little booze goes a long way in jazzing up a drink that non-coffee drinkers are sure to love. We recently teamed up with Drambuie, the original whisky liqueur, to launch a collaboration of bespoke cocktails featuring our cold-brew. According to Drambuie Brand Ambassador Vance Henderson (who was responsible for crafting the cocktail recipes), “The smooth taste of Drambuie- heather honey, herbs and spices, and just a touch of sweetness pair exceptionally well with the rich and bold flavors of the cold-brew.
The Drambuie x Chameleon Java Royale cocktail is a great recipe for non-coffee drinkers. To craft it yourself, use 1 part Drambuie, ½ parts Green Chartreuese, 3 parts Chameleon Vanilla Coffee Concentrate. Combine with ice in a rocks glass, stir until well chilled, and serve garnished with a skewered piece of candied ginger.
